The Brent Alpha is a concrete gravity base structure built in 1975. With the Brent reservoir in decline production was stopped in November 2014.  The decommissioning phase is already underway on the Brent Alpha.  The Brent field was named after the Brent Goose, as with all of Shell's Northern North Sea (NNS) fields it is named after a sea bird.
