The Wilphoenix is managed by Awilco Drilling and owned by Wilphoenix (Malta) Ltd. It became operational in 1983 although it was extensively upgraded in 2011 and 2016. It has a max water depth of 1200ft and a max drill depth to 25,000ft. It can accommodate 124 people, 110 berths – 2 man cabins – extensive additional offices as a result of 2011 upgrades.
